Having Money vs. Having Class!

Hello Everyone!

There is a misconception about the perception of wealth.  Many people feel they can purchase expensive homes, cars, name brand clothing and they are wealthy.  Feeling wealthy and living wealthy is very different. Depending on the level of poverty, the feeling of wealth can vary from person to person.

In some situations, a mobile home can make someone feel wealthy.  Others may feel a two-story home signifies wealth and the driver of a Rolls Royce may have the same feeling.  Therefore, the feeling of wealth and success is different per person. People want different things based on their experiences.

Therefore, it's not good to measure your success by other people, because you don't know where or how they got started.  There is a misconception of class.  Class is not purchased, it is a learned behavior that usually starts in the home.  Class is indicated by mannerisms, etiquette, and character.

Many believe, if a person has money, the individual has class too.  This is not true.  There are indicators of class within each of us.  The way a person hold their eating utensils, regular table manners, following the host of a dinner, eating the food and then drink.  Many drink as they eat.

People with class do not "name drop" designer clothing brands, names of cars, designer handbags, etc. Because, it is the "norm," it's not new, it's a way of life.  Being wealthy is an acquired way of life for some and others were born into it.  Thus, the phrase was coined, "old money vs. new money."

However, many have a desire to acquire wealth, but, not having class keeps them out of certain circles. Wealth can be acquired without having class, but, the circle of friends and associates are usually limited to the same people you were around when you were in poverty.

Class is the key to bridge the gap.  Having class will assist in getting a person in certain social circles to make the proper connections.  As the year ends. set attainable goals and self-project.  If you want to attain wealth or acquire more class.  Enroll in business and/or etiquette classes in 2017!

It's never too late to make a positive change!  Happy Holidays!

Old Ways vs. New Doors!!

Hello Everyone!

We are near the end of the year and most people are thinking of things they want to change.  This is the time when personal, social and professional changes are being thought of for the next year.  During this time, a lot of people start their sentences with, "Next year, I am going to....." or, "At the beginning of the year, I am going to...."

And, the intentions may be good, when people are talking.  They may be feeling it at the time and later, their old ways come into play.  The thoughts of doubt, comfort, laziness, etc. and, the contradictory thoughts begin.  For example, "I know I need to make some changes, but, ...."  "I know I need to get a divorce, but, ....,"  "I know I need another job, but,.....," "I know I need to take a class, but, .....,"  "I know I need to advertise more, but, ....."  And, it goes on and on.

Later, people realize, years have passed and they are saying the same things.  A lot of people are not happy in their personal lives and they feel empty inside.  Therefore, the feeling of emptiness, leads them to nowhere. They are not motivated to change and have accepted the current lifestyle.

Many people are not happy in their social lives.  They are around people who are not assisting with their growth.  They are involved in conversations that are not leading to progress in their lives. They are unfulfilled socially and too afraid to step out of the social circle.

Professional change for some people is the hardest. It tends to be more challenging for some, because it involves their income.  And, when supporting a family or if, a single parent, the decision involves more than one person.  Thus, leaving a lot of people unhappy on jobs and/or in their careers.

People need to lose the contradictory thoughts and embrace positive change. And, walk through the new doors of personal, social, and professional growth!

Fall in LOVE with your business again!

Hello Everyone!

When ideas start flowing as to making a decision about opening a business, most of us are filled with excitement.  We feel anxious, nervous, doubtful, happy and any other emotion that can take place.  Then, the contradictory thoughts start popping into our heads.  "I know I can do it, but, what if I fail?"  "I know it's a good idea and it will work, but....."

After those thoughts, the conversations with negative people starts and afterwards, you hate you told them about your idea.  At some point, after those conversations, you decide to move forward.  All is going well and you are very busy, later, business slows down.

At this time, most people panic.  This is the time to fall in love with your business again!  This is the time to be creative and think of other ways to generate interest and income.  The joy and excitement that existed when you opened has to return.  You have to align yourself with the initial feeling you had when it was an idea.

This is the time to "self-evaluate."  Take inventory of the past twelve months, six months, and three months. The inventory should consist of:  the number of goods and services sold during this time, the income generated, the marketing strategies, and the profit and/or loss statements.

This inventory will assist you in making an informed decision, in regards to your next move.  Many business owners allow the negative emotions during slow periods to direct their decision making process.  Business decisions should never be based on personal emotions.

Once an informed decision is made and a positive attitude is displayed, along with creativity, those slow days will convert into a profitable business!

NEW! BETTER! DIFFERENT!

Hello Everyone!!

As summer is coming to a close, it's time to think of something new, better and different.  This is the time of year to think of fall and winter promotions, including holidays.  Also, this is the time to think about personal and professional changes going into the next year.

NEW:  The fiscal year is about to come to a close.  Therefore, it's time to budget for the upcoming year. What new services will you offer clients next year?  Will there be new additions to your menu of services? Will you paint a room a new color within your business? Will you hire new staff members? What changes will you make as a leader?  Will you read a new book on business, self development, marketing, etc.?

BETTER:  This is the time of year to evaluate yourself and the business. Take inventory of yourself as well as your business practices. When evaluating yourself, be prepared to make the needed changes to improve your life.  What will you do to make yourself happier?  What will make your life better? What business practices will you change to see better results?

DIFFERENT:  During the fall and winter months, different holiday promotions are hosted by various businesses.  This is a great time to promote your business using a "theme."  Major retailers set great examples to follow, such as: furniture stores, car dealerships, Macy's and other retailers. Hosting an event for your business with a theme is a different way to promote it. Clients enjoy being a part of something new, different and exciting.  What will you do differently to set your business apart?

This is an exciting time of the year.  Be prepared to create your own reality for your business.  Take the initiative to do something new, better and different and give your clients an experience they will never forget!

Do NOT Chase Money!!

Hello Everyone!!

One of my mentors told me years ago, chasing money is one of the biggest mistakes people make in business.  I was told to do what I love and the money will come.  Treat clients with respect and run a "quality business" and the money will follow.

Many business people are frustrated because their focus is on making money and it's not coming fast enough.  I know, because when I opened my beauty school in Alabama, I had an image in my mind of how it would be and the money would flow into the business very fast.

I didn't consider a lot of the "hidden costs" involved with opening a school and going through the accreditation process.  There were other monies involved with obtaining certifications, consultants, accountants who audits beauty schools, etc.  Luckily, I received great advice along the way and kept my cost down and broke even my first year in business.  I was profitable each year afterwards.

In previous posts and on our monthly conference calls (www.tonilovegroup.com), I stress the importance of surrounding yourself with positive people and those who are smarter in various areas of life and business.  This advice was given to me and has been a large contribution to my success.  .

Not all the information is going to be applicable to your business model, but, take what you can use and apply it.  Correct information combined with passion will lead to success.  Stay passionate about your business to the degree where is doesn't feel like work and watch the money flow into it.

At that point, you will feel an ease about your business, instead of being anxious, worried, and frustrated when it appears as if nothing is going on.  It will take time to reach that level of calmness, but, if you stay focused on running a good, quality business, it will come sooner than you think.

When you reach that level of calmness, you won't have to chase the money, because it will be chasing YOU!:-)

You Don't Have to Struggle Your Way to Success!

Hello Everyone!!

Over the years, we have heard, "being successful comes with a price."  Many, interpret the "price" as being a struggle.  In my studies, I have discovered, a lot of successful people have a different mind set.   Successful people tend to focus on utilizing their mind more than their bodies to achieve their goals.

Most people feel the success is generated by the amount of labor they put into a task.  There is a degree of labor involved especially during the beginning stages of a business or project, but, should decrease as the success increases.

The right information is vital to starting a business or achieving a goal. Starting a business and being successful does not have to be a struggle. Obtaining the right information and having someone to hold you accountable makes a huge difference.

I receive a lot of phone calls and e-mails asking me to mentor students and professionals in the beauty industry.  After years of teaching and owning and operating a business, I decided to construct a program that will assist other professionals in achieving their career goals.

The Beauty Leaders Program

The Beauty Leaders Program is a six months professional coaching service provided by Toni Love's Training Center.  It is a one-on-one program specialized to fit your needs. First, we will discuss your professional goals and go from there. You will come to Atlanta after three months from the date you start for two (2) days and again at the end of the sixth month. Your start date begins when full payment is made by you.  And, when the start date is agreed upon by both parties.

Once your goals are established, the curriculum will be designed accordingly, using the outline on the website. There will be assignments and if I have a contact in your area, you will have local appointments, along with telephone sessions throughout the six months.  When you are here, we will have appointments with different professionals pertaining to your goals, along with other helpful activities.

Also, if job placement is needed, we will assist in that area. I look forward to you starting the program and feel free to contact me directly, if you need more information.

Act Like a Success!

Hello Everyone!!

Recently, I watched a video of comedian Steve Harvey giving a speech entitled:  "Act Like a Success."  I saw a very short clip, but, it was powerful.  In the footage, he spoke about asking God for big things. He told a story about being an up and coming comedian and visiting a friend's home who had marble floors in his garage.

At the time, it didn't make sense to him, but, when he became successful, he installed marble floors in his garage. A friend asked him, "why would you do this and what if the car leaks oil?"  Steve responded by saying, "I don't have cars that leak oil."  He went on to say, "you wouldn't have marble floor in your garage if you're driving a '85 Maxima. He added, dream big and asked God for huge things."

Many people complain about every little thing.  There are never satisfied and nothing makes them happy. Attitude and positive self-talk plays a very big role in being successful.  Act and think like a successful person. Surround yourself with successful people, ask questions about their achievements, inquire about their strategies, and request available contacts.

Get up every morning and spend some time meditating on good thoughts.  Try to achieve something productive each day.  Set realistic goals and read as much as possible.  The mind needs to be fed constantly. Also, do not engage in negativity with anyone.  This includes friends and family members.

Dress for success each day, as you never know who you will run into in the post office or grocery store. Sometimes "small talk" with someone could led to a valuable piece of information you may need for your business.  Be happy in all you do.  Even when you feel bad inside, exude happiness on the outside.  Feelings are transferred and people can feel your energy.

During those times when you are sad, heartbroken, stressed, etc., take some time to talk to God and ask for understanding and guidance.  Constantly,  thank him, even when you don't understand the reason.  Start today, act like a success.  Talk like a successful person and believe in you are a success and guess what?

You will be a SUCCESS!

It's Time to Disturb Your Comfort Zone!

Hello Everyone!

Recently, I saw a video clip of former football player Ray Lewis.  In the clip, he was speaking on "disturbing your comfort zone" and I decided to write about it.

In the clip, he mentioned readjusting your comfort zone.  I have spoken to many people who could have been more successful and/or happy, if they would have not been afraid to disturb their comfort zone. Disturbing the comfort zone can consist of many things.  Some people want to travel out of the country, but, afraid to fly.  Therefore, they live with regrets.

Some people run a company for someone else and always wanted their own business.  They were too afraid to take the leap.  They retired with regrets.  Some people are in relationships and are not happy.  But, they stay in it, because it's more comfortable for them to exist in a relationship, than, to live in their truth.

I hear cosmetologists and barbers mention during conversation, they want to relocate to a larger city, which could mean moving to a different state, but, they are afraid to do it.  So, they stay in the environment that is not conducive to their growth.

In life, we have to be uncomfortable at times on the journey to greatness and happiness. We need new challenges to make us better.  We need people in our lives who hold us accountable to enhance our growth. It's comfortable to stay around people who will not correct you and allow you to get away with things.

As students, most of us, had more respect for the teachers who held us accountable.  The teachers who taught us responsibility, accountability,  and the tools we needed to create profitability.  Some of us still speak of these teachers today.

Therefore, my question to you is, "are you ready to disturb your comfort zone?"

What is YOUR business message?

Hello Everyone!!!

There are so many "messages of enticement" in the media today.  Advertising the benefits of being a part of something great!  As a business owner, you have to get a message to consumers.  The message has to tell the consumer, "what you are doing and what you want them to do."

The message needs to be short and concise.  It needs to used as the "pitch" for your business.  The message  has to make consumers want to know more.    For example:  Wendy's advertises, the "Four for $4," but, you had to go and see what four items made up the special.  McDonald's advertises the "Value Meals."  But, you have to go see which meals are for what value.

Is your message generating interest and profits?  If not, you need to change it ASAP!  The message for my business, "Don't Settle for Less, Train with the Best!"  Because we believe we give the best educational classes and seminars.  We offer detailed information and in return, our graduates get results.  Therefore,  we have proof that our training works.

Also, we have a support group to assist the graduates upon completion.  The Toni Love Membership Group.  Members have a private website, monthly conference calls and so much more.  The calls are recorded, therefore, they can return to the website and listen.  Graduates share helpful information, give testimonies and offer encouragement to each other.  The members are all across the United States and abroad.

To join this awesome group, log onto www.tonilovegroup.com.  Also, the group's website has business information.  So, if you have not established a message for your business, join the group and let us help you!

Find Your "Happy" Place!

Hello Everyone!

February has been deemed the month of "LOVE!"  Valentine's Day is a symbol of expressing love toward others.  For business owners, it's a time to use your marketing strategies.  Holidays and special days are the best time to relay your business message to your audience.

Your audience is in tuned to the occasion and will pay more attention to your message. Such marketing strategies are used by furniture stores, major retailers, and others during these times.  For small business owners, follow the larger companies and present "your" message on a smaller scale.  If you can't afford a commercial, create a YouTube video for your business.  If you can't afford billboards, create a 'hot" flyer.

Your business message should be straight to the point, telling the consumer what you want them to do, and it should be exciting!  The audience should feel your happiness through the message.  When a consumer contacts you via telephone, you should sound happy and excited.  Selling is a transfer of feelings.

To begin finding your "happy place," start with your mindset.  I heard a speaker say the following in regards to finding your "happy place:"

"It's a beautiful day."

"Prosperity is flowing to me in lots of different ways."

"Life is good to me in so many ways."

"I love having a dream that inspires me."

"The fact that I trust I can have these dreams, I trust they will manifest fully."

"It's not my job to figure out how, where, when, who, etc., when I'm in the receptive mode."

"Think of things that are good in your life."

When you are in your "happy place,"  the things going on around you, will not annoy you.  When you are not, you are annoyed, frustrated, and feeling defeated.

This is the month to celebrate love and black history.  Celebrate, think happy thoughts and make something happen in your life!  Let's go get it!
