Recently, I saw a video clip of former football player Ray Lewis. In the clip, he was speaking on "disturbing your comfort zone" and I decided to write about it.
In the clip, he mentioned readjusting your comfort zone. I have spoken to many people who could have been more successful and/or happy, if they would have not been afraid to disturb their comfort zone. Disturbing the comfort zone can consist of many things. Some people want to travel out of the country, but, afraid to fly. Therefore, they live with regrets.
Some people run a company for someone else and always wanted their own business. They were too afraid to take the leap. They retired with regrets. Some people are in relationships and are not happy. But, they stay in it, because it's more comfortable for them to exist in a relationship, than, to live in their truth.
I hear cosmetologists and barbers mention during conversation, they want to relocate to a larger city, which could mean moving to a different state, but, they are afraid to do it. So, they stay in the environment that is not conducive to their growth.
In life, we have to be uncomfortable at times on the journey to greatness and happiness. We need new challenges to make us better. We need people in our lives who hold us accountable to enhance our growth. It's comfortable to stay around people who will not correct you and allow you to get away with things.
As students, most of us, had more respect for the teachers who held us accountable. The teachers who taught us responsibility, accountability, and the tools we needed to create profitability. Some of us still speak of these teachers today.
Therefore, my question to you is, "are you ready to disturb your comfort zone?"
Create a better day!
